Ordner
The skater are usually escorted by the police [G]. But there are a few other persons who help them.
The ordner are blocking the roads so the police can drive to the next one. That
means that you have to be in a good condition because you
- start (usually) at the top of the crowd
- skate to the next street which is blocked by the police and take their
place so they can drive to the next street.
- wait until the whole skate crowd passed you
- skate to the next street which should be blocked (or to the top of the
crowd, whatever comes first)
As you can guess this consumes much energy.
So if you want to act as ornder: You have been warned.
But thats not the only work done by the ordner. They help the skater which have
problems (e.g. when we are crossing tram rails) and try to explain the reasons
for the event (if someone ask, e.g. a pedestrian or a car driver).
And sometimes you have to explain the other skater that there are some
rules for night skating [E].
Coordination of the ordner activity:
Is currently done by Thomas Miglinci (from the Österreichischer Rollsport und Inline-Skate Verband [G]).
Requirements for ordner:
- You should be able to skate safe.
- You should be able to skate fast (required for most of the ordner).
- The combination of the two requirements above should not be a problem
for you.
- You have to wear a helmet.
- You need a whistle.
- You have to arrive half an hour before the start time and tell
the persons who are coordinating the ordner activity [E] that you would like to skate as
ordner.
